Ok. There is nothing deep about this post. I have to share a disgusting picture that has burned into my mind. I was on my way to work and there was a car in back of me with a driver who was a rather conservative middle-aged women. She started picking her nose!! If that wasn’t sick enough…now I’m not kidding with this…she ATE IT!! I swear to you. I literally had to roll down my window because I thought I was going to hurl. So gross…

Well we finally found a place. It’s so clean and perfect that I’m afraid to touch anything or LIVE in it for that matter! I’m just hoping that everything goes easily in a few weeks when we finally move. The landlord is so thorough that she actually wanted to meet the dog even though we brought a picture of her. That’s one thing I’ve never done before – get a dog ready for an interview. She got an A- . Why an A-? She tried to jump in the landlord’s Lexus. Not a good way to make points. Good thing she had a bath the night before – the dog, not the landlord.

I just got done watching Paranormal Activity. Crap that scared me! I love scary movies like the next person, but because it was filmed in that documentary style like Blair Witch Project, it made it feel more “real”. I learned that the bed that all this was happening is really the director’s bed in real life. He said he has no problem at all with sleeping in it. There is NO WAY I would be able to sleep in the same house after this movie was made. Call me a wimp, but it was an intense thriller. I guess I should go to bed now….maybe the dog will protect me…

For the last week we have been looking for a new place to live. We hate this dump we’re in right now, and our lease is up in a month. This, on top of all the deaths we’ve had in the family recently had made me exhausted – and sick. I’ve got a cold from hell…(is that even possible?) and the last thing I want to do is apartment shop. So, we went to a place last night. Fun house, great neighbors on one side, but horrible ones on the other, and horrible parking. Then tonight we went to another complex that I called and made an appointment to look at, and the landlord stood me up! That is so irritating. She could have called and said she was running late – nothing. After wasting a half hour waiting for her, my partner and I just left. I am yet to receive a call from the landlord. Even if she gave us the apartment free, I would not take it…ok, if she gave it to us free AND paid us, then I would

I was flipping around on the tv when I ran across a man showing the camera a tiny little frog. It was about 1-2 inches and full grown. The man opened up his mouth and ate the live frog. Bastard. I hate him.

I can’t believe that it has been almost three months since I posted. In case anyone cares, I’m sorry. Anyway, in the last few months I have been notified that I will be laid off from my job in about six months, my partner and I are moving in the next month or so, and two family members have died. It’s been one hell of a few months. On top of that, my dreams of going to graduate school have pretty much crushed since finding out about my job disappearing and student loans rolling in all at the same time. Things have been pretty overwhelming. I’m not going to try to write anything clever because there isn’t much to say except that it’s life. It can get better and it could also get worse. It’s all part of the way life roles.

I thought things were going pretty rotten for me. Then Haiti got hit. Suddenly I feel very fortunate to be able to watch the telathon in my warm house and with a full belly. May I always remember this…

I haven’t added a post in a while because I’ve been putting all my extra time into NaNoWriMo. I’m still not sure if it a mistake or not really. I’m at 10,000 words now and have to make it to 50,000 by November 30th. My secret to my success? Write sex scenes like you’ve never read before…It makes the word count go up big time

So, in other news, my car is doing well. Had a scare yesterday that it was going to get washed away. I went downtown and got stuck in flood waters. Not good. Let me just say that again – not good. Fortunately I didn’t get in trouble, but a lot of people did.

Tomorrow is a Monday. Do we really have to go to work? Can’t we just call in “not interested”??

There are few things in life I hate worse than fighting with my partner. We rarely argue but when we do, it takes a day or so to get back to normal. Halloween is one of my favorite times of year because that is when all the best movies come on. This year, I didn’t have a chance to watch many because I decided to leave the house in rebellion of our fight. I left for several hours and as it turned out, she did as well. So, we both left to get away from each other and the only one at home was the dog! What a wasted Saturday. Things got better as the night went on and today we went to the beach for a little “together” time. It was nice. I’m not sure what the point is to my story here, but I do know one thing: next year I promise not to fight on Halloween. It’s a real drag…

Driving Fool

So last Monday my car was driving fine- until I got to a huge intersection at 4 o’clock traffic. My timing belt snapped, water pump damaged, and two cylinders were bent. Lovely. After I had it towed to the mechanic he told me that I was looking at $2000. Needless to say, I wasn’t going to have the repairs done because the car wasn’t worth it. This will be a nice donation for the Humane Society
Over the weekend then, my partner and I went car shopping. I was stunned at how deserted all the car lots were of customers. We did our research before showing up, and I got a really cute car. The only thing that really irritates me is that there is some squeaking of the brakes and the salesman kept saying that it would go away soon. So far that hasn’t happened. I just get tired of having everything be so much work. I just want to drive off into the sunset – but I want to have brakes to stop once I get there..

Tonight I went to a prose/poetry reading of some alumni from my college. I knew most of the people reading their works and I was highly impressed. It makes me wonder if I could write like that. It’s one thing to be creative but quite another to write so it gets inside the audience. I want my writing to linger for a few moments after I’m done reading. Sometimes I think I can do just as well as these people (with some more practice of course). Other times I feel that there is no way I could compete with that. So where do you find the happy medium? If I think I can’t do it then I won’t even try but have the security blanket of “knowing” that I didn’t fail. Or, I try it and fail and say “I told you so” – or, succeed. Not sure where to go with this. Maybe I just need to write some more and figure it out. I’ll keep you posted. I’m sure you can hardly wait…
